“Indian National Congress ”
(also known as the Congress Party and abbreviated INC) is a major political party in India. Founded in 1885 by Dadabhai Naoroji, Dinshaw Wacha, Womesh Chandra Bonerjee, Surendranath Banerjee, Monomohun Ghose, Allan Octavian Hume, and William Wedderburn, the Indian National Congress became the leader of the Indian Independence Movement, with over 15 million members and over 70 million participants in its struggle against British rule in India. After independence in 1947, it became the nation's dominant political party, challenged for leadership only in more recent decades. In the 14th Lok Sabha (2004-2009), 145 members (out of 545), the largest contingent amongst all parties, serve in the house. The party is currently the chief member of the ruling United Progressive Alliance coalition. It is the only party to get more than 100 million votes in the past two general elections

“Congress in Haryana”
The present congress govt. in Haryana headed by Ch. Bhupender Singh Hooda showed exemplary futuristic vision by planning and executing concrete steps to do what will help us in the future. These efforts are going to bear fruits in very near future i.e. the power generation in our state will get a tremendous boost from December 2009 itself and within a very short period of 5 years time we will have surplus power at our disposal. The Projected capacity of Power is 5000 MW and for achieving it, the govt. has initiated the construction of the following power stations and their construction is in full swing. Details of these power plants is as under:
  • Deen Bandhu Chotu Ram Thermal Plant, Yamunanagar - Capacity: 600 Megawatts, Date of commissioning : 14th April 2008.
  • Rajeev Gandhi Thermal Power Project, Khedad (Hissar) - Capacity: 1200 Megawatts., Date of Start of works : 19th May 2007 Date of Commissioning: December 2009.
  • Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Plant - Capacity: 1500 Megawatt, Jhadli (Jhajjar) Date of Start of works: October 2007 Year of Commissioning of First Phase : 2010.
  • Thermal Power Project, Khanpur Khurd (Jhajjar) - Capacity : 1320 Megawatt, Date of Start of works : 10th January 2009 Date of Commissioning of First Phase : December 2011.
